From pixels to a readable glyph field
ascii.studio decodes your image locally, scales it to a character grid, and compares the brightness of each sampled area with an ordered character set. Dark and light regions become dense and sparse glyphs, preserving the silhouette and contrast that make the source recognizable. Increase the width for more detail or reduce it for a compact result.
The style menu includes classic ASCII, Unicode braille, shaded block art, terminal characters, line and dot treatments, plus canvas-based effects. Mono mode gives you clean text art; color mode samples the source colors. Animation modes move the glyph field, while the optional 3D renderer maps it onto textures, particles, or relief geometry.
Use copy for a README, message, or terminal, or export a still image as PNG. Compatible 2D glyph styles also support SVG, and animated 2D scenes can be recorded as WebM or GIF. Because processing stays in the page, you can experiment without first transferring the source image to a server.
